Albuquerque, NM - Manzano
Day School contracted with ForeverLawn to install nearly 28,000
square feet of SportsGrass premium synthetic turf. Prior to
this, MDS had spent a great deal of money replacing thousands
of square feet of sod in their play areas every year. However,
through "normal" use of the lawns for recreation,
physical education and special events, the areas were always
bare and dusty by the middle of the school year. And even
though Albuquerque is typically a dry climate, when it did
rain this only caused greater problems. The dusty areas became
muddy and unuseable, and drainage problems actually created
a "pond" in the middle of the commons.
ForeverLawn SportsGrass was selected
as the solution of choice, even though other vendors had lower
bids. The key reasons were: 1) The antimicrobial qualities
of the SportsGrass product; 2) The micro-mechanical seaming
system that is unique to ForeverLawn; and 3) The aggressive
search for a solution to the drainage concerns MDS faced.
